CannActuality
Cannabis research for product development

About

What CannActuality is

CannActuality is an independent research platform for the licensed cannabis industry. Its job is narrow and practical: give the people who develop cannabis products — brands, manufacturers, formulators, and retail buyers — a sourced, current read on demand, formats, channels, and regulation, so product decisions are made on evidence instead of conference folklore.

CannActuality is not a retailer, manufacturer, or distributor. It sells research and analysis, never cannabis or hemp products, and it accepts no placement fees from the brands its briefs discuss.

The research method

  • Named sources, opened and read. Every figure in a brief traces to a source listed on that brief — retail data providers such as Headset, NielsenIQ, and Circana as reported in industry publications; market research firms; government bodies; and law-firm regulatory analyses. If we cannot open the source, the number does not run.
  • Dated, always. Every brief carries its publication date, and regulatory briefs state the date their status was verified. Cannabis rules are moving on published deadlines in 2026; undated analysis is a liability, so we don't publish it.
  • Implications, separated from evidence. Briefs present the data first and the product-development implications in a clearly marked section, so your team can weigh our conclusions against your own.
  • Weekly cadence. A new brief publishes every week, and the regulatory watch is refreshed whenever a tracked proceeding moves — a ruling, an effective date, a new filing. Corrections are made in place with the change noted.

Boundaries we publish by

CannActuality covers the business of cannabis products: markets, formats, channels, and rules. It does not publish dosing or consumption guidance, and it makes no medical or health-benefit claims about cannabis — the clinical questions belong to clinicians and regulators, not to a market research desk. Regulatory coverage is reporting and analysis, not legal advice; operators should confirm decisions with qualified counsel in their jurisdiction.

Adults 21+. This site is intended for adults 21 and over and for licensed industry professionals. If you are under 21, this publication is not for you.
